Everything you need to know about our e-bikes and how to operate them safely.

How do I know what the difference is between bikes?

That is a great question that we get all the time! The bikes vary not only in size, style or color, but also by battery size and DC motor power size. 36v to 96v, 250w to 7000w

What is the difference between Lithium and Lead Acid?

The short version: lithium batteries are lighter, last longer, and perform better—while lead acid batteries are cheaper upfront but much more limited. For e-bikes, lithium is overwhelmingly the better choice.

What’s difference in DC Hub Motor and Mid Drive Motor?

The difference is mainly where the motor sits and how it delivers power—and that changes how the bike feels, climbs, and wears over time.

Real-world comparison:

  • City commuting on flat roads? Hub motor is usually perfect.
  • Hills, trails, or hauling weight? Mid-drive wins easily.
  • Want something simple and low maintenance? Hub motor.
  • Want performance and a “premium” ride feel? Mid-drive.
How far can the e-bikes ride on a single charge?

There’s no single number—it depends on the battery, motor, terrain, and how you ride Typical range (real-world):

  • Throttle-heavy riding: ~25–40 km (15–25 miles)
  • Pedal assist (moderate use): ~40–80 km (25–50 miles)
  • Light assist / eco mode: up to ~80–120 km (50–75+ miles)

What actually affects your range:

Battery size (biggest factor)
Measured in Wh (watt-hours)

  • 500Wh → ~40–70 km
  • 750Wh → ~60–100 km
  • 1000Wh → ~80–130+ km

Motor type

  • Hub motor: slightly less efficient
  • Mid-drive: more efficient, especially on hills (can stretch your range)

Riding style

  • Full throttle drains fast
  • Pedal assist (especially lower levels) saves a lot of battery

Terrain

  • Hills = big battery drain
  • Flat roads = much better range

Rider weight & cargo
More weight = more power needed

Wind & tire pressure
Headwinds and low tire pressure quietly eat your range

Simple rule of thumb:
Most e-bikes average about 15–25 Wh per km depending on use.

So if you’ve got a 48V 15Ah battery (≈720Wh):

  • Easy riding → ~70–90 km
  • Mixed riding → ~50–70 km
  • Hard riding/throttle → ~35–50 km

Bottom line:
If you’re just cruising with pedal assist, you’ll go a lot farther than most people expect. If you ride it like a scooter on full throttle, expect the range to drop fast.

Can I ride my electric bike or scooter in the rain?

Yes—you can ride an e-bike in the rain. They’re built to handle normal wet conditions. But there’s a difference between riding in rain and abusing the electrical system.

What’s safe:

  • Light to moderate rain riding is fine
  • Wet roads, puddles, splashes—no problem in normal use
  • Most quality e-bikes have sealed connectors and water-resistant components (not waterproof)

What to avoid:

  • Don’t submerge the motor or battery (deep puddles past the hub or bottom bracket)
  • Don’t pressure wash the bike
  • Avoid leaving it sitting in heavy rain for long periods
  • Don’t charge the battery while it’s wet or right after a soaked ride

Things you’ll notice while riding:

  • Braking distance increases—especially with mechanical brakes
  • Tires can slip easier, particularly with smooth commuter tires
  • Electronics usually work fine, but displays can get harder to read in heavy rain

After-ride care (this matters more than the rain itself):

  • Wipe down the bike, especially battery contacts
  • Dry the chain and re-lube it (rain strips lubrication fast)
  • Store it somewhere dry if possible

Quick reality check:
If it’s a decent e-bike (like the ones you’re selling), rain isn’t the issue—neglect after the ride is what causes problems like rust, worn drivetrains, and electrical corrosion.

Bottom line:
Ride in the rain? Yes.
Treat it like a submarine? No.

How old do you have to be to ride an electric bicycle or e-bike?

In Ontario, you must be at least 16 years old to ride an electric scooter (e-scooter). These regulations require riders to stand at all times, wear a helmet if under 18, and comply with safety rules including speed caps of 24 km/h. These rules apply to both personal and rental scooters under provincial pilot programs. ontario.ca +5

How long does it take to charge?

Charging time for an e-bike depends mostly on the battery size (voltage + amp-hours) and the charger output (amps).

Typical ranges:

  • Small e-bike battery (36V 10Ah–12Ah): ~3 to 5 hours
  • Medium battery (48V 12Ah–15Ah): ~4 to 7 hours
  • Large battery (48V 18Ah–20Ah+): ~6 to 9+ hours

What affects charging speed

  • Charger power: A 2A charger is slow; a 4A–5A charger cuts time nearly in half.
  • Battery size: Bigger battery = longer charge time
  • Battery condition: Older batteries can charge slower
  • Temperature: Cold batteries charge more slowly for safety

Real-world example

A common 48V 15Ah e-bike battery with a standard 2A charger usually takes about 6–7 hours from empty to full.
